SiteLubings...
Well, two quick things: Cosmo3D have teamed up with Future Gamer to bring you the best ads (look at the top). Then goes the sad thing: the old site tracker crashed, so all datas on the visitors (hits, referrers, etc.) since the start in March '98 is gone! Bæh!

Do That Voodoo Thing
Just some more lubings here... First of all, PlanetCrap is finally back online. What a happy day ;) Then, you better check out HotHardware's Voodoo 5 5500 in-house preview with tons of benchmarks, obviously shoing that the V5 shines on a fast CPU system... And getting a bit on-topic again (in-house), we'll soon get up some o' the best demos and pictures from The Gathering LAN Party in Hamar, Norway last week!

I'm Back. Rant.
Yup, after some days far away I've safely returned to my PC o' love. The Big ThingTM that happened while I were skiing away in the mountains is the release of the Daikatana demo, along with the announcment, err.. announcing that the game is gold and ready for shipping! So, how does it rate then? The game that have been in development since 1893 or something (well, four years, then)... While I haven't tested the game yet (and then really have no reason for having opinions each way), it looks like Billy have something to say on the subject: Feedback from you guys so far hasn’t been so great; here’s a game that’s a prime example of why delays and long development cycles are a bad thing. If the game were released eighteen months ago when it was supposed to, it would have been an instant classic. Now, the engine shows its age and it looks dated even before it hits store shelves. It’s hard to say how the final product will be, judging a game by the demo alone isn’t always accurate, (anyone remember Jedi Knight?) so cross your fingers. I'm downloading the bad mutha right now, so expect a few comments later this eve. If you need some news on the demo, check the main page for headlines - or head over to Blue's, VE or The Shack.
But indeed, congrats to John Romero and his team for finally finishing the game, then! Indeed.

Overclocker’s Tower
To keep the action rolling while cosmo is skiing in the mountains, I just posted my 'review' of the Addtronics 7896A, an excellent tower - escpecially for you naughty overclockers! Here's some saucy lovin': The way that the "doors" swing-open is also an enchanchment that other tower brands should copy. Just swing the doors a couple of degrees out and just lift it off (You don't need 3 meters in every direction like the Aopen HX08. And voila - I now have a tower that serves my P3 500 FC-PGA a delightful chill temperature! You can read the whole thing here. And while writing, I have to let you know that I am at the worlds biggest LAN Party right now, The Gathering in Hamar, Norway. It's almost 5000 people here! Who knows, maybe we'll put up some demos and images from the party later! Check out the live webcams!.

A little Vacation
Yup, that's right. I'm leaving the town - and will head forward to my cabin up in the mountains... I won't be back until Sunday - but relax - chiller will take care of you whan I'm away (there's no power where I'm going to stay, but there sure is where chiller is going - he's on his way to The Gathering - a huge LAN Party).
So, a happy easter to you all!

Exclusive Voodoo5 News!
More Voodoo5 news from Cosmo3D coming your way! I just posted a quick 4-question Q&A with Andrew Humber of 3dfx, clearing up some rumours related to the soon-to-come Voodoo5 boards. Here's a snip: Q: After what I've heard from various places on the net, the 5500 will be out at the end of april - and will cost around $300, and the 6000 will be out shortly after that at a price around $600. I assume this is U.S. dates. How about Europe and the rest of the world?
A: We hope to have first products on shelves in May - these will be the 5500 AGP and this will be pan-European.
Q: On the OS note, have you any further plans to release Macintosh-based versions of the top models? I know that the PCI versions should probably work with Mac - but I have also heard romours that a new & special model will be released.
A: Rumours rumours - evil things! We have just announced the release of the Voodoo 4 4500 PCI and Voodoo 5 5500 PCI, specifically branded for the MAC - I've enclosed the release below for your reference - again, I can't talk about unannounced products, but we are fully committed to the Mac platform so we will continue to fully support it, which will undoubtedly be through the provision of more products to cater for the varying levels of user!! You can read the whole thing here.

Thanks for the boast, folks!
I'm reading through some of the 'answers' from the Feedback Contest we're holding, and I have to say that I'm both proud and flattered of all the nice words! And while writing; I've now tweaked a bit on the headline-sniffing again, which seems to be faster than ever before now!

Quck Fix
Seems like this is the oh-lord-im-gonna-redesign-days, as Unreality just went live with a dandy new design. I've now updated the headline-code to work with the new site. And speaking of Unreality, you might go check out this post over there. A little friendly sarcasm for a late Friday.

Voodoo5 Prices!
Cosmo3D, in cooperation with Snipers Alley - will now - as the first sites on the net present the first official Voodoo5 prices from 3dfx! We were in contact with 3dfx's Alf Covey earlier today, and he gave us some new info on the Voodoo 5500 model! It will ship towards the end of april for U.S. customers, and around mid-May for us Europe folks, and the estimated pricing is $299. He also said that "these are also available pre-order through the online 3dfx store", and that review copies will be out a bit sooner than the mentioned dates - which hopefully means that I can check out the bad boy before you do - and even get up a dandy review of it!

Small fixes
3DActionPlanet relauched with a spiffy new design today, and I've now updated the sniff-code to fit the new coding over there. I also did some small fixes to the scripting - as well as fixing some small bugs with the customizing, so if you notice any problems, just mail me. And check out the latest beta version of Opera 4, BTW!
UPDATE APRIL 14. I've gotten a few reports regarding buggy headlines from Counter-Strike.Net and HalfLife.Net. I'll look into the problem and see what I can do!

New Netscape6 & Opera4
There are new betas of web browsers today: - The folks at Netscape has released Preview 1 of Netscape 6. I could have ranted all day long about HTML/CSS-support, Gecko, free-source and stuff - but all I have to say now is that this have seemed promising since Mozilla M1. So go grab it!
- Of course I have to mention that the small and fast 1MB-browser from Opera Software is out in a new version 4.0 beta 2.

Misc. Lubings...
Just felt like throwing up some thoughts here, now as the new site is pretty structured and working... First of all - thanks for all the feedback on the new Cosmo3D - I haven't noticed a single negative one! That's great, and I have to admit that I'm pretty darn proud of it!
And then, some of you have asked why there are no ads on the site. Well, I just got the contract from Daily Radar UK - so in a few weeks you'll have to live with some nice gaming ads. Not a too heavy price?!
To end the show, here's a piece of spam mail the chilly dude got today - regarding overclocking: Hi,do you know that you can upgrade your computer's speed anywhere from 33%--37% more , through a unique process called overclocking.
Overclocking is the reclocking of your system,to improve overall performance,it yields amazing results, the whole process takes less than 4 minutes. Comes with detailed heat control info
The software throttles the processor, eliminating billions of unnecessary vxd and algorithms calls and calculations respectively, which reduces the workload and temperature by as much as 20% fahrenheit, before you reset the clock speed Sweet, eh? And to be a bit on-topic again, chiller's tutorial on how to get your Piii 550 up in 825 MHz will be up soon...

April Fools 2k
I've collected a lot of gaming fools spread around the web yesterday. You can read 'em all here.

PU ASCII etc.
Before I'm leaving the house, a quick note that it looks like the folks over at PlanetUnreal, as well as the rest of the GameSpy Network, have decided to use a fast-loading ASCII-layout. An April fool? Sure is! This is what they say: The advantages to this setup is that there are no broken image tags to check for, and we can save money on new hardware by having less repeat visitors to put up bandwidth for. Haha! Anyway's, the headline-sniff code is updated to use the backup page over there, so the PU headlines should work again after the next sniff-update. Funny, eh?
And then, a quick note: The link databse is now up, but currently the personalizing doesn't work...
